Located near the Yosemite Valley, California, Vernal and Nevada falls via the Mist Trail has an elevation gain of 2191 feet and the distance is 6.4 mile. People love to hike to the top of the Vernal Fall and Nevada fall and the Mist trail is the best route for that.
Even though there is another trail too for hiking Nevada Fall and Vernal fall known as John Muir Trail, Mist Trail is the most famous. It gives the best view of the waterfall and as indicated from the name there is a high chance that you will get wet.
This trail is much steeper and exposed as compared to John Muir trail so if you are not physically fit you must not hike it. You will have to hike 600 stone steps that are wet too so it requires a lot of physical energy. It will take 5 to 6 hours to complete a round trip to Nevada Fall. This trail is rated as difficult so you need to keep it in mind before you hike it.
The journey begins from just near the Happy Isles Bridge located in Yosemite Valley. You can park your cars at Yosemite Valley Trailhead Parking as it is the closest it would be your preferred option. This parking lot is located between the trailhead and Half Done Village. From this parking lot, you will have to walk for about half mile then you will reach the Happy Isles Bridge and the trail will begin.
The first part of the trail is steep at times and gains elevation constantly. After you have hiked for 0.8 miles you will get a great view of Vernal Fall from the Vernal Fall footbridge. You will also be fascinated by the water fountain. There are also toilets at this point.
After you have crossed the footbridge you will climb towards the Vernal Fall. When you reach the Vernal Fall you will love the view from there. You can continue hiking for 1.6 miles and you will reach the top of the Nevada fall.
