If you want to get lost in nature then West Fork Trail Oak Creek is the perfect trail for you that offers beautiful views along the whole trail. There are many popular trails in the Coconino National Forest, but if you are there for the first time this trail should be your priority.
It’s a 7.2 mile out and back trail with an elevation gain of 820 feet. This popular trail is located in Coconino National Forest near Sedona, Arizona. It’s a relatively easy hike so you can take your family with you as well and why not, it’s a perfect place to get close to nature and have a picnic. This is a beautiful hike and you will be mesmerized by the red rocks and greenery along the Creekside. You will hike alongside the stream and you will have to cross the stream a number of times. You will have to use the stepping stones to cross the creek.
It’s not easy as it may look, because the stones are slippery and you may end up hurting your ankle, so do this with a lot of concentration. The trail elevates gradually, but you may not even notice it. The first three miles of the trail is easy to follow as they are marked and soon you would reach the end of the maintained path.
If you wish to hike beyond this point you are going to get wet for sure. You will have to hike in the stream bed, but, it will be a great experience. How long you hike depends on how prepared you are and how good you are in hiking in the stream bed. But, doesn’t matter how far you go this will surely be a great experience for you and your family. Take as many photos as possible at different spots to remember this experience. You should take waterproof shows with you and water and snacks as well. There is an entrance fee of 10 dollars a day per vehicle. If you are alone you will have to pay 2 dollars.
